wouldn't a 3.2 case mate up fine with 2.4 crank, pistons, cylinders & heads? If so, could this simply be a situation where the owner threw a rod (or otherwise had a damaged case), replaced the case (only) with a more modern aluminum case and reused the 2.4l crank, pistons and cylinders?
