I use plain Microsoft Word (from Office 365) to open up PDF documents, then it converts them to word then I make the changes I need then I just save as pdf.. Could not be simpler.
I'm done using stupid editors that are limited and the good ones are not free.. Never again!!
With Word works perfectly and I edit documents with images and templates and other heavy stuff..
