I was thinking "Yeah bud (talking to the dog), I'd want to leave too." I remember another time, we had the front and back doors of the house propped open because we were carrying stuff through the house to the back yard, and we were in the kitchen when that dog came trotting into the kitchen happy as can be, tail wagging. Cute, very sweet thing. Another time, I'm in the driveway working on something and I hear the the young daughter yelling "get back here you stupid dog." The dog ran straight up to me and sat down. I'm sure this was just me, but I swear he had this look, like "please let me stay here. Don't make me go back." It also made me think which one of you is stupid, the dog, or the people that can't hold onto their dog. I'd have loved to have kept the dog.
Our well meaning neighbors (young couple) bought a nice house, had a baby, and got a dog (black lab I think) and a cat.

Unfortunately the poor dog was mostly ignored and left in the back yard where it barked and scratched at the back door for hours.

Don't know if it was the dog or the toddler or both but the cat was "no farking way" and moved into our yard.
I was "no farking way are we getting another cat!" (we have three indoor cats)
So we put food and water bowls + a cat bed in the exterior laundry room.
