Hopefully they changed a few things.

We had a honda pilot. I towed our waverunners with it.
Bad move.
The rear electronic differential is NOT sealed or as least not vented high enough.
Launching the waverunner filled the rear diff with water causing it to fail.

Something honda was reluctant to warranty. They told me never to get the rear wheels wet again or it would not be under warranty the next time.
That’s the same differential you have to change the oil in every year and the special oil costs $80 a gallon!

Like i said, I hope they changed some things.

I personally would NOT consider a honda, any honda for towing a boat.
How much oil does the diff take? Normal GL5 80/90, (not synthetic), runs about $10 a liter and my Benz takes about a liter. So if it was double the price, ($80 gallon), it wouldn't be a big deal every 60k miles or whatever the interval is.

If it is a venting issue wrt water ingress, it sounds like something that could be modded/rerouted for submersion boat launches. Most boat launches don't require the tow vehicle to go in the water, though. Just the trailer, usually.
