Played monthly with a local group. Low pots. Did Texas holdem. Usually $10 buy in for 1000 chips with one rebuy until half way thru. Winner usually takes about $100. Then do a quick game with $5 buy in for 500 chips. Never had anyone win both games.

Host of the game got 1 free buy in and $10 from the pot to pay for refreshments. One of the guys worked for Budweiser and brought enough free beer for everyone.

Took a while to get the reputation of not being able to tell what the heck I had or would bet on. After that could win every 3rd night.

After a couple of years the poker night changed to just a chance for everyone to get drunk. Most of those enjoying the poker aspect including myself dropped out.
