My answer to this question is: '70 S purchased for $6,200. Its a numbers matching car, with paperwork back to the day the OE picked up the car at the factory. When I purchased it, it was in excellent condition and had just undergone a full engine rebuild. The explanation is that I bought it in '78 (it sold new for $8,400 in Jan. '70) when it was just a used sports car with 90,000 miles. Yes, I still have it. Yes, those were the good old days for a long hood.
