So if you recall I posted about a month ago about my work being in a "unknown" zone, due to the DoL regs on overtime, who qualifies as exempt, etc.
The Provost was making noises about a special teaching position for me, to let me work current full time gig as a part time job and to teach full time or closer to full time. No money lost, my 2 departments are kept happy, life would be good - if HR agrees.
Then last week the federal judge put a kibosh on the exemption stuff.
Being one to "trust everyone but deal my own cards" I saw the opportunity to apply as a developer for our student information system. Position is definitely exempt (so I can still teach) and even better it pays about what I currently make working both jobs.
Just got the call for an interview - Monday at 1.
What is weird is that in the 19 years I've worked here and the 5 positions I've held, I've never been interviewed. It has always been "get an app in to keep HR happy and get back to work".
