Alden is one of the few remaining American made shoes and is about the closest in construction and quality, they start at $550 and go to over $700
Allen Edmonds and Johnston Murphy custom still make shoes in America..starting at $400 on the Edmonds and going to $475 on the Murphys.
Quality which equates to durability costs money, cheap shoes equates to crap. They fall apart quickly.

You can resole as long as the insole is still intact on goodyears.
I just ordered 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds- will get em after they return from Christamas. I love their shoes.
