not really. the early boxster engines were rated at 201 hp/181 tq. for comparison, the early 951's are 217 hp/243 tq. that's a significant difference there (especially the tq), and no respecting 951 owner leaves his stock for long. for under $400, mine now runs 260/300. turbo upgradeability is unmatched.
obin is right in that if you were to find a boxster engine, it would be very expensive, and not a very good power value.
