I share the sentiment of this thread with my '78 911... The car was very inexpensive to purchase 6 years ago and now needs a full engine rebuild and can use a trans refresh... If I have someone perform the work it will cost beyond the cars worth. If I do it, it's still exorbitantly expensive considering what you're getting for the $ and theres an eement for real error as it would be my first attempt.
I try to tell myself I must retain the car bc someday I'l be able to fix it and its such a prized auto...but I can't seem to raise my disposable income faster than the costs rise

No flaming, Porsches cost a lot more than Subaru's and such to maintain but when compared to a Ferrari they are a bargain, cost is relative.
Porsche's are inexpensive and efficient in the high end sports car world.
