When I was looking at houses there was one where the kitchen shared the wall with the living room fireplace. They had built a smoker/grill into the kitchen side of the wall using the flu of the fireplace. I thought that was cool. You could do your outdoor grilling/smoking without leaving the kitchen. I think about that place when it's freezing outside and I use the grill.
Looked a lot more practical than the house that shared the fireplace between the living room and master bedroom. Why would you build that so you could see thru the fireplace from the living room to the bedroom?
