It's fairly easy to steal that truck because it doesn't have an ignition interlock. You can just punch the ignition and drive away. Slim Jim to get in, hammer a #4 Craftsmen screwdriver straight into the ignition and turn it until it breaks the lock and the starter engages. Many parts on this truck are interchangeable with even newer models so it's pretty valuable chopped to pieces.
Newer vehicles have an electronic ignition interlock in the key. You need the actual key to start the vehicle, which is why new keys from the dealer are so expensive.
