There is a bit of a difference between freezing your nuts off for 6 mo. in MN. and spending a few days in snow in the CA. Sierras.

Got about four feet in a day of hard snowing at Tahoe, 1989 maybe, got an earthquake and a blizzard in the same year. Were able to ski up Mt Rose Hiway to the overlook too much snow to drive, rented cross country skis, up we went. I have pictures somewhere, taken a month apart at that spot. January, nothing, dirt. February, chest high powder with plenty more coming. Power was out for 3 days, but the phone worked, damnedest thing. Lucky thing too, because Joe and Cindy needed rescuing. Had Squaw Valley to ourselves for a day, because 50 and 80 were closed for snow removal and we could make it because we were already up there, beat the storm.
I bet it will be beautiful with all that fresh snow. Holiday weekend too, bonus.

Yeah, it was beautiful. I had the bad fortune to come down w a nasty cold that's going around so only skied a little but man did I get my fill of snow.
