Bathroom extractor fan outlet....

I need your advice on what to do with this. The exhaust flap on the outside of the wall broke apart and fell off. The bathroom was renovated 20 years ago. I bought a new exhaust flap(see instruction sheet figure 2). I made the mistake of removing the old pipe inside the wall which was attached to a a dryer type flexible plastic duct and it was duct taped together. Now with the sheet metal pipe detached and the flex plastic pipe not long enough to come outside the wall I have no way of attaching the new metal pipe and exhaust valve.

So now what do I do? remove the extractor fan motor and push a really long piece of flex plastic outside of the wall to the outside? Butting part 2 tube and flipper valve against the existing flex pipe will not give a good seal as the moist air will vent into the attic or wall cavity.

It is 42 inches from the ceiling extractor fan to the outside wall. I would have thought that originally the flex pipe would have been routed from the inside of the house to the outside. I might have to repeat this but do I have to remove extractor fan first?

Your thoughts please!?
