Rebuild guideposts
Hi folks,
I'm trying to put together a build plan for a 3.2, and in order to get a handle on cost for a DIY rebuild, I thought I would benefit from a little advice.
As with all things, I know, it is important not to generalize, but what machine/outsourced work is necessary and what is approximate cost(s) for a stock rebuild @ approx 150K miles?
(1) Reconditioned heads (~$700), new springs (~$300), new seals and new valves
(2) Should every case go through a Magnaflux? How about resnout? Necessary too?
(3) Case work? New bearings.
(4) Of course, all new seals.
The engine rebuilding book is great, but think there is a lot of value hearing opinions of those who do this stuff all the time.
Thanks all.
