Yoko kept John in the game, he would have self-destructed otherwise. I'm sure Yoko wanted what was best for John first (

I should clarify that in the documentary I saw a few years ago Yoko split with John so he could party and get his
ya's ya's out. Would not allow him back unless it was under her rules. Not sure if this was before or after the breakup, but she wore the pants and had to have things her way. This is the structure in which John avoided self-destruction under.
Paul had enough of being the only member trying to keep the band together and just stopped trying at some point. At least this is Paul's version.
It's all history now, just spin some old vinyl now.
