If you live in the Toronto area you can use this service Home - Cross Border Pickups
Many vendors have free US shipping, and their price per package is quite reasonable.
You do need to clear it for customs, I know for sure you can do the paperwork at the Pearson airport (most airports like Hamilton, Oshawa, Trenton, etc) but there is likely many other offices you can look up.
