Your needs are almost exactly the same as mine. I agree that Wranglers are a bit generic but they are fun and really do the job.
I've had three Jeep Wranglers over a period of 25 years and they never got more than 500 - 700 miles per year. Current one is a 1998 with 121,000 miles but has a 5-speed. I need a manual in order to teach my grandkids how to drive one!
