The heatsheild is NOT a separate item
"The heatsheild is NOT a separate item".
This statement caused a bit of uncertainty so I had another look today. On my early '84 (USA version), the heatshield (that item placed BETWEEN the chassis and the cat) is indeed a separate piece and is in no way physically attached to the converter.
With this in mind, I will continue my part search and provide an update on the result.
