I've been buying ammo over the years via 'dollar cost averaging.'
Like, when I saw some on sale, I'd buy...even during the shortage...whether I was going to shoot or not.
I must have 10,000 + rounds of .22 and the same of 7.62x39...at least 5,000 rounds of .45....same with 9mm & .38 Special, etc.
Big 5 would have 30 - 30 "Accelerator" on sale frequently...I'd buy.

I have an old box of .22 HP (50) with a Big 5 price tag of $.89...that's going back a decade or so...or more.

I'm getting into .22 mag now, so I'm looking at that.

Two years ago I answered a local ad for .45 ammo. A fellow had only a few months to live...bought his last 20 boxes for pennies. He was selling everything he owned.
