Early 79s were essentially unchanged from the 78 930. Late 79s US spec were actually 1980 models sold as 79s in the US. The changes are seatbelt latches, flush headlamp washers really all small changes.
The floating rotors stayed on RoW 1980 930s at least for the for first batch. Not sure if it is documented at what point the floating rotors were phased out.
1983 was the big year the 930 had the first of many changes instituted from 1983 to 1986 the first being a change to its legendary boost delivery with revised fuel injection system and more linear boost delivery.
From 1984 to 1986 the suspension was revised to be more neutral as well.
The end result was a better mannered more refined less raw 930 with its 1986 reintroduction to the US market.
