Something is amiss here. In the quote they say it needs a complete engine. An entirely new engine or a complete engine what? Just the head gasket set and the new stretch bolts are going to cost you most of that $1200 I would think.
I'll bet that $1,200 was just for the work they already performed. I'll bet that invoice isn't an estimate, it's a receipt.
