SUCCESS !!!! I went back out and started looking closely at stuff. Peeled some wrapping off the lock harness and found some smashed wires. Had the door painted 1 1/2 years ago and I guess the body shop did it but it took a while for a wire to ground out. Only one had a bare spot. Anyway, I tied the harness out of harms way thinking, no way this is a fix. WAY!!!
Thanks to all who offered help and thanks to mother nature for giving me a 70* sunny day in February so I could do this.
