Cellular Village
Here beside the highway on its west side are a group of little wooden cottages, each square with a wraparound porch and a glassed-in cupola "widow's watch" on top. It's a peculiar little village, where there are no roads, no sidewalks, and nobody is ever there. That's because this is a village of cellular phone towers, where these buildings were constructed to conceal them. The first was designed and built by US West Cellular in 1994, and soon other cell phone companies settled at this village, including NexTel and Western Wireless, building a total of 4 cottages through the 1990s. The transmission antennae are housed at the peak of each building.
