Might be a good idea to replace the two seals under the two cast aluminum end pieces if they are dry rotted. After 20+ years they probably will be.
Doing that will let you keep and use the short neck intercooler you have.

For the black rubber factory elbow hose with the 1" diameter 964 turbo recirculation valve fitting on top you can get it cheaper from some Porsche dealers than anywhere else.. and somebody posted they have one to sell above.
How would that effect lag?
