Is your info from Johnson's book? The earlier (pre-68) owner's manual includes instructions on how to release the passenger seat backrest from the locked position. This refers specifically to the passenger seat (with photo) and makes no mention of the driver's seat. I'd have to believe that if both seatbacks locked, Porsche would have merely referred to the front seats as a pair.
