Like many on this thread, I think they are a lot of car for the money. Yes, the front view isn't great, yes, the interior was a strange departure from the 911 lineage but it really is a very capable car. I have driven many enthusiastic miles in them and they are awfully good, reliable fun for the money. Are they as good or better than our a/c cars? They are faster and more comfortable but IMHO lack obvious character....both in driving experience and aesthetics. The engines are a bit of a wild card, if an owner attends to the IMS issue, there is no reason for these cars to not hit 100k miles before requiring work. That being said, I have never heard of these cars achieving some of the crazy mileages that many A/C cars have. The dry sump lubrication in the A/C cars seem to really promote longevity even when driven enthusiastically mile after mile. Are they a currently under appreciated future classic? Personally, I think production numbers and comparitively cheap 997s will certainly keep a lid on pricing for the forseeable future. As a driver for the money....best value in the 911 universe. Cheers
