Hmmm. Before I had my current cupholder, and back before I had RS door panels, I used to jam coffee cups into that space... didn't work so well because you had to remember to get the cup out before shutting the door.
I made a cupholder to fit on top of the center console handbrake cover out of some aluminum I covered with alcantara.
