Nakai (RWB) offers smooth fenders, and several builds in Japan and Thailand have them. Some are also not as extremely wide.
Buyers get to choose.
US buyers all seem to choose the 934/GT2 look of bolt-on flares, widest or next to widest.
Likewise, several US cars have visible fasteners on the rocker panels, and that appears less common on cars built in Japan.
To each their own. I think some look great all bolted up like a racecar, others look better smooth.

Tippy -- I've got to give Nakai credit for the quality of his fiberglass parts. Really, really good. The kit shipped to us was far better in regards to fit & finish than what you'll buy from most of, if not all of, the the well-known vendors here in the US. Kevlar and stainless mesh reinforcement in the fender flares plus extra material at lip for strength, reinforcement in lids' corners and by latches, crisp leading edges on the decklid louvers, no waves or scratches or pits in surface finish of fiberglass, etc. I bolted on lids right after unpackin them and they needed almost no work. Overall really impressive. The paint shop we contracted said the quality made the $30-something thousand Liberty Walk Aventador package look like junk.

Certainly better than the fit and finish on the factory 993 RSRs I've seen, GT2s too -- but Porsche expectedly doesn't give much thought to that because those are racecars and they wholly expect bumpers and flares to be replaced frequently.

I'm clearly not a purist, but it even pains me a little to see a pristine 1989 Turbo -- the last and best of that body style -- being cut. Yes, all reversible, true, but you never have factory original paint a 2nd time...

(Unless you send it back to the factory for them to restore it.)
