For my freshman & sophomore years, I went to a private Catholic high school that always fielded top-ranked sports teams. The Monsignor that ran the place was a sports fanatic and used his high-profile teams as a publicity machine for the school. He personally recruited hot prospects right out of area grammar schools and provided free tuition, and assistance to the family if need be, to get the kids on board.
