Funny to see the different perspectives on areas - I've lived in North Texass (DFW area) since 1989, and think the climate is horrible 10 months out of the year and the "culture" is not much better than the weather.

Dallas area is much, much different from Houston. I've visited Dallas a few times. I'm not much of a fan. Dallas is much colder in the winter, and I think hotter in the summer. Houston, because it's so close to the Gulf is much more temperate. I guess the downside is the humidity. I'm not sure, but would guess, that the humidity is probably lower in Dallas. San Antonio and El Paso are also hotter in the summer, but I think also drier. Austin is great, but not cheap, probably because it's so great.
