My wife's car was towed on one of these occasions--despite the fact that we called it in. (Probably because of the fact that we called it in.) The towing company claimed they had no record of our call--too bad for us. This required going to one side of town to pay the ransom (where you waited in a line, 50 victims deep, to pay over $100), and going to the other side of town to get the car--it was an all-morning ordeal.
At the ransom-paying place, there was a lady sitting in the back, smoking, on oxygen. I always hoped that the inevitable would happen.
