This would make sense if the drivetrain were particularly flexible. The rear mounts are spaced further out, so they have more leverage on the drivetrain. The front mounts are closer to the center axis, so they're doing less dampening work. They also are part of a short connection line between the driver's seat and the transaxle -- which means you'll get a huge amount of vibration and noise from running solids up there.
Based on my own experience, and the advice of my betters, I'd suggest sports all around for a street car, and solids in the back for a serious street/track car. A dedicated track car would be fine with all four solids, I guess. But boy, it's going to be loud.
