Lol....well in that case why not have two.
Your rationalization that the auction estimate was 40 to 60 as a means of assuaging your anxiety that u dun ok shows that you dont understand the psychology behind those estimates. Some auctioneers like John Gangle use low estimates to entice bidders into thinking that they can get it cheap. Others like Julia's run their estimates optimistically so that buyers think they are getting a bargain when they win the bid below estimate and or are ready to dig deeper into their pocket . Also the optimistic estimates makes for happier consignors.
Then there is the Lot order set up in the auction to get maximum action. Many times auctioneers own a number of the Lots they are auctioning. Then I even have a suspicion that an auctioneer will bury a good item deep in the auction which winds up as a sleeper?
