Which is mostly what I meant. Jack Links built a brand with a product that people liked. But then they wanted mass distribution, which Walmart does very well. Unfortunately, becoming affiliated with walmart has been the downfall of many products because walmart sets the *suggested* price point for products they carry.

When they say to Jack Links, "we will buy and distribute 50 tractor trailer loads per week provided you sell to us at no more than $1.83 per unit".... well, Jack makes the product for $1 per unit, sells to Wally at $1.83 and retains $0.83. Wally sells to the customer at $4.75 per unit, and you get beef jerky that tastes like it was made from used shoes.

Then the added result is that Jack figures out that they can make ALL their jerky at the Walmart price point.

Quality meat costs money.
LOL, I knew what you meant but thought his post was funny and had to yank the chain a bit.
