Same thing happened to me last spring.
I'm planting tomatoes and peppers now. I can't grow cruciferae in the summer without poisoning the heck out of them. The bugs just chew them up. I start cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower in late August and put them out in mid-September after the heavy bug season so I can grow them without poison.
