Random thought:
Long cold night.
Moisture leaks in and builds up in the insulation and wood rafters.
A stockpile of moisture.
Then comes a blazing hot afternoon.
The moisture is at boiling point and wants to push out upwards anywhere it can.
Here is the problem.
What allows that trapped moisture to escape between the layers of roof?
Those wood spacer strips run sideways.
Cheap pine also rots.
The massive heat and moisture wants to travel up vertically.
But there is no path available to the outside.
