Sounds a lot like my current title situation... Take your paperwork to the DMV and they will walk you through the process to obtain a title. For me to do so I have to have a court order and go in front of a judge to prove ownership and they can give the right to issue a new title. You will need to have a bill of sale that shows you purchased it as well as an officer to come out and run the VIN to ensure it wasn't stolen or anything of the sort. DMV will help you with all info needed. Take what you have to them and go from their
