Great news!
after reading everyone's advice , I decided to get the car insured, fill out all the paper works and headed to a small DMV office out on the island.

I submitted the paperwork and she says " uh, you didn't complete the process" I told her, well the only thing left to do was to apply for the title, but since NYS don't issue a title for pre-73 cars, it didn't make any sense. I waited until I am ready to register. She replied " not a problem"

She issued me the tags and registration. The registration says "not transferable" she explained to me that, once Albany gets the original papers they will send me a transferable one within 3 weeks.
