I have owned a used Cayenne for a over a year. Got it with 112,000 miles, and I now have 133,000 miles with no issues. I replaced the cabin air filter, the parking brake pedal damper, and I do my own oil changes. Just because I will never pay $250 at the dealer, and most oil change places won't touch it.
It is a 2008 V6. I would recommend a second generation if possible. There were some issues on the V8 (cooling tubes, transmission shaft) to be aware of. The towing capacity is 7,700 lbs on all models, so should be adequate for your purposes. And they are really fun to drive, very nimble, fast and precise, like a Porsche sports car...
