I saw this article on tiny homes the other day and thought that it was interesting.

We had kids and lived in a 4br 2000sqft home. When we were empty nesters, we eventually decided to get out of the suburbs. We sold the house and moved to a 2 br 1293sqft apt (intended to go 1br, but did the other for a while). We then moved to a 1br and then to a different 1br once we realized what our priorities were. We are now living in a 1br apt that's about 850sqft. It's got 1 small closet. We might be able to live in something smaller but it would need better, more efficient storage and utilization of space. I don't know that I want to go much smaller, but this feels like a good size for us.
