The maintenance on the S2K is minimal and inexpensive for the type of fun you can with the car. The DIY things that I did were fluid changes, plugs, brakes, and a clutch swap every 95K miles. Amazing reliability.
I still own a 993, 951 and the S2000. All great fun cars. If I had to have one as a DD/track car, it would have to be the S2000.

Nice comment...I think on this forum, most regard Honda as a cheap, boring car. Not true with S2000 or the long gone Prelude. I'm 63 years old and my current Prelude is my fourth one. Put at least 100k on each, and absolutely no problems on any. The engine in my current Prelude is also the 2.2 vtec thats in the S2000. The low end torque may not be equal to the 911, but get the rpm's up over 6K and it's a whole new power band. I also have a 100hp nitrous set-up on it....which I seldom use. Getting real hard to find a fill station.
