ADT guy said the Nest learned their habits of turning the temps up and down. Not just whether they were home or not. But did turn ac or heat off when everyone left the house. Said it also adjusted differently according to outside temps so would turn heat/ac off when it was nice out. Those Nests are pricey though. About what my Honeywell programmable thermostat costed ages ago when they were the new thing.
Not into the Internet Of Things stuff myself. Only got the phone/internet thing for the alarm because that is what it took to do the overhead door thing. The delay arming the alarm couldn't be made long enough to get me and the dog in the car, open the door, pull out, then close the door. If I could have programmed the delay a little longer I wouldn't have gotten the Pulse thing that gives me Cell phone access to the system. Did a few test runs and was about 30 seconds over by the time the garage door shut. And would have had even less time pulling in and disarming. This lets me have a much shorter delay. If I wasn't monitoring the overhead door, the defaults would have been fine.
