Our 2017 has the lane assist and it makes a growling noise if you get close to a lane stripe without using blinkers. It also has the blind spot warning and cameras front and rear to aid in parking.
Mercedes has had a brake assist for over a decade. If it senses you are closing in on an obstacle and you are not at full braking it will add braking. Mercedes did a lot of testing and the majority of drivers were not applying full brakes in an emergency situation.
I bet lane assist is going to be mandatory soon. I see the average driver wandering all over the road and most are texting. I figure they need a feature that if the lane departure warning goes off more that a few times per minute the driver should get a ticket in the mail for inattentive driving.
