I am very afraid of getting rear ended here in NJ. It seems drivers are either on their phone, drinking coffee or smoking a cigarette. Sometimes all three at once! So I did two things this past year. First, I installed an LED strobe flasher for the high mounted brake light. It REALLY grabs the attention of drivers.
Then, I installed a contact switch for the brake lights wired in so that if it fails, the pressure switch still works. It is perfect and I can now tap the brakes to light up my strobe, whereas before it required actually braking before the lights came on.
