Bob Hutson, I can understand your reluctance, if I remember correctly 289 Cobras were selling for about $6500.US new at the time.
Ok, how about this... I sold a '55 Carrera Speedster ( one of 14 made that year) in 1978 for...(insert rim shot)... $5000. Check the price on these now, and it was $2000. more than I paid for it!
246 Dinos were going for $7000.US in London in 1974 when I was in college there, and you could buy a Vincent Black Shadow that had been completly rebuilt by the factory for I think around $2800.US
I passed on a pristine GT 350 for $6000. in 1977, a supercharged MG PA (1939?) for $3000. about 1980, and what I think was a Ferrari 212 Barchetta that somebody had stuffed a 327 Chevy engine into alongside the Dixie Highway north of Waterford Hills for $1800. in 1968.
And just this weekend I saw a very very nice 911S, same owner for 25 years, not perfect but very nice, for $16,000. Oh for some instant cashflow and a big big garage.
