Yea, there are dozens of people starting businesses that use a drone. They can click a few buttons and make Pix4D produce amazing results. They have zero idea how to verify the data is positionally correct and they usually don't care. If all you want to see is the roof or look for damage the exact position does not matter.
A lot of it comes down to how much would you want to get paid to purchase a drone, learn to run it properly, and get in your car to drive across town to get to the site, launch the drone and fly the project. If you spend 45 minutes each way in the car, an hour to set up the UAV and get the flight done what is that worth to you? Some places want to pay just $150 per site. Unless you can do 8 or 10 per day you will starve.
Since we come from a background of aerial mapping we are stuck on accuracy. You simply have to have a ground control point, well actually several of them on any project. We have done real photogrammetry for decades. It is a real science. It used to be very expensive. It is not that expensive anymore.
