Next: A Porsche "3-Series"?
Porsche has been saying that it wants a fourth model, to bring units above 100,000/yr. Automotive News reported that Porsche management stated the fourth model will be positioned well below the current models (in price, presumably) and, citing "industry sources", reported that Porsche has been studying a four-passenger coupe and a four-passenger sedan.
If all of this is true, sounds like the next Porsche will go up against the BMW 3-series.
In the past, Porsche built various prototype family four-seaters - stretched 911s and stretched 928s. After launching a V-6 SUV, a sub-$40K coupe/sedan wouldn't be that much of a surprise.
