I haven't identified what's causing my issues yet, but I did do a leakdown test and all the cylinders had about 4% leakage on a cold engine. So I don't think I have a major mechanical problem, which is a Yuge relief.
So it's either ignition, fuel, or a bit of both. My spark plugs were all fouled pretty badly too. So I replaced them after the leak down test.
Chris did hook me up with an old hpv-1 twin plug ignition system. I'm tempted to install that. Just have to reach out to Richard Clewitt about using a map sensor to pull timing unde boost. The instructions from electromotive don't have any information on that. And searching here I see people saying it's possible, but haven't seen any instructions on how to do it.
I've also made a lot of changes to the CIS system. So I'm sure the stock settings from the workshop manuals are not correct. After a quick email to Brian at rarly8 he instructed me to set it closer to euro spec.
Baby steps but a little progress. Thanks for the suggestions. I checked the green wire and the distributor for water.
To end on a good note I spent most of Hershey swap meet with Uwon and his beautiful backdated 78 with a turbo charged 3.4. He even let me take it for a short spin. I sold him the bare chassis 7 years ago. Absolutely beautiful car.
