I sorry to hear about the finger.
Did you get the shaft to turn with the bolt? It took me a lot of turning with a steady pull down to get it to move.
Maybe if you could attach a slide hammer to the shaft.
Maybe dowsing the fork and the shaft with WD40 would help (the needle bearings in my release fork seemed frozen solid until I got some WD40 on them, but that was after I got it out). I would try using the little tube to try to get it to the top of the shaft rather than spraying blindly into the bellhousing.
The only time brute force worked better than patience was when I pulled the pilot bearing.
